Building on the discussions that took place during the FACT Forum in Malaysia, discussions highlighted the importance of traceability and transparency in value chains, and the need for inclusive dialogue among governments, the private sector, and local communities, while addressing the challenges smallholders face in accessing resources and markets.

As Co-Facilitators, the United Kingdom and Ghana presented a set of promising government-led approaches to strengthen T&T systems.

These formed the basis of the forthcoming document “Promising Approaches by Governments: Forest and Agricultural Commodity Traceability and Transparency Systems.”

A closed-door online consultation with member countries on July 18 ensured broad participation and feedback, which the Secretariat incorporated into the final document.
